Clara is a call-handling service for small businesses. When you call a business that uses Clara, our AI assistant answers on behalf of the business. During that call, the assistant may offer to send you a follow-up text — for example, a booking confirmation, a quote, or a link you've asked for.
The Clara assistant asks for your permission before sending any text. You must verbally agree during the call. The exact wording the assistant uses is:
"I can send you a text with [the confirmation / the link / the quote]. Is it OK to send a text to the number you're calling from?"
Only after you say yes is your number used to send that one specific message. Calls are recorded and transcribed, and your consent is logged against that call.
Transactional follow-up messages directly related to the reason you called. We do not send promotional or marketing messages.
Example message:
Thanks for calling [Business Name]. You can book your appointment <here>. Sent via Clara AI.
Text <number> to STOP.
One message per call, unless you specifically ask for more.
Reply STOP to any Clara message to be removed immediately. Reply HELP for assistance.
